A lot of us here in the hunting section have talked about home defense here. Would it be wise for me to save some money and buy a modern military surplus body armor vest with ceramic trauma plates? Think about it, I will be defending my home. But what if the intruder guy shoots me before I shoot him? Well, at least I will have body armor and he won’t…before I pepper him with 00 buckshot.

If the USA was to go to war in a jungle environment such as Vietnam would the infantry troops carry with them the same armor as they do today?

Wouldn’t this armor be way to heavy to hump around up and down hills in the heat and humidity.?

Would the military create a new armor vest suited for the jungle or what would happen?
